Art Photo Index

June, 2016

Michele Algreen has been invited to become a member of the Art Photo Index, a global search engine for vetted art and documentary photographers and their work. Click here for her profile.

Art Photo Index (API) is a visual index of important art and documentary photographers, their images and their websites from throughout the world.

Our goal with API is to become the most useful index and search engine for discovering and exploring fine-art and documentary photography. Unlike other general purpose search engines where pertinent information is buried within the less relevant, the Art Photo Index search tool focuses only on a vetted art and documentary photographers and their work, making it the ideal search engine for our discerning audience of curators, gallery directors, publishers, editors, picture researchers, collectors and others who love art and documentary photography.

The artists included in Art Photo Index have been selected as a result of their accomplishments in the art or documentary photography field. Many of those included have been published by major photobook publishers or serious art photography magazines. Some have received awards given by art and documentary photography organizations. Others are represented by major art photography galleries.”

Art Photo Index is owned and operated by Photo-eye, based in Santa Fe, NM.

Senior Student Art Exhibition

April 24 – May 8, 2015
Reception: May 8, 2015 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm

April 9, 2015 (Boulder, CO) – Naropa University’s Senior Student Art Exhibition, susurrus, will host the works of Michele Algreen, Amanda Garrison, Jacob Horenstein, Kasey Loyer, Nick Roos and Joy Watts at 6287 Arapahoe Ave., Boulder, Colorado. The reception is Friday, May 8th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. This collection represents a selection of works from each artist’s creative journey. The works broadly span the mediums of acrylic and oil paint, mixed media, ceramic, digital photography, and collage.

Michele Algreen is an aspiring fine art photographer. Her work is about revealing the beauty, clarity, and simplicity in things already seen. How color, line, texture, or shadow in everyday objects, when viewed from an alternate perspective, can be fresh and new; an anchor to the present moment. Michele's modern, contemplative approach is complemented by her progressive naturalism. Amanda Garrison is an abstract expressionist of the human condition with an emphasis on color and movement. Artist Jacob Horenstein work integrates the ephemeral nature of the imagination into the relative stability of the physical world. He uses perceptual distortions, dreams, and fantasies to encourage viewers to question the role that their imagination plays in their perception of reality.

Kasey Loyer’s oil paintings are atmospheric color fields with a focus on live forms found in nature. Nick Roos is a figurative painter working with the juxtaposition between illusionary qualities of forms in space and an expressionistic background, Local Colorado artist. Joy Watts works with a diversity of art mediums. However, she emphasizes in ceramics and has a strong connection with art therapy. Her forms often represent seed pods, containers, seashells that are found in her explorations.
